About GELCO

Owner and director of GELCO Paul Walker has more than 30 years experience of Greenland adventure and exploration services since organising his first two month expedition to East Greenland in 1989. Since then, he’s gone on to organise over 250 expeditions all over Greenland, becoming the leading expert in his field. He has guided many of these himself and now works with a team of highly qualified associates including IFMGA Mountain Guides, IPG Polar Guides, WMCI Mountain Instructors, Safety Advisers, Field Assistants and Snowmobile Guides.

Prior to GELCO, Paul ran the highly successful Tangent Expeditions enterprise. His new vision for GELCO was born from the experience of running Tangent and the desire to streamline the business when the world re-opened after the pandemic.

GELCO has a dynamic structure that can meet the needs of the rapidly changing world of exploration and adventure in Greenland in a post-COVID-19 world.

Constable Point Facility

GELCO utilises two unique storage, accommodation and equipment facilities at Constable Point and Mestersvig to delivers its bespoke Greenland expedition and consultancy services.

Originally owned by Tangent Expeditions since 2011, these facilities were purchased by GELCO’s in-country delivery partner Futures Greenland ApS (‘Futures’). Futures is a wholly Greenland owned and operated company, from which GELCO is able to rent storage facilities and other services.

Having access to snowmobiles and inflatable SIB boats and a fleet of sea kayaks allows clients to receive the best possible support throughout winter or summer expeditions in the most remote regions of northeast arctic Greenland.

The storage facilities at at the remote airstrips off Constable Point and Mestersvig enable groups to more easily access their stores, food and equipment, as well as utilise camp accommodation before heading out into the mountains. This transforms accessibility to the region. The nearby mountains of Liverpool Land ranges provide easy access to stunning alpine mountains, glaciers and fjords. Travelling further afield into the National Park rewards expeditioners with unclimbed summits, untouched landscapes and a true wilderness experience.

Other local services are also available from Futures, such as snowmobile and boat transport.
